The IRS is also considering taxing the value of their medals. Are they in for a shock. The athletes who win receive a commemorative Ghiradelli Chocolate bar wrapped in gold paper for their efforts. That is the reason you see all the athletes biting into their gold medals. The value of bronze medal bar won by the athletes has been set at $4.95. Can you imagine if the Giants finish third in the AL West that on Wednesday October 3 following the last game of the season they would be spraying champagne all over the clubhouse yelling, "We won the bronze, we won the bronze, we won the bronze!"
