Melky Cabrera is our Player of the Week for the Giants. He made a great catch yesterday in the 11th inning and threw to first base to double up Hart of the Brewers. During the week he raised his batting average back up to .315 and made a number of exceptional plays and throws from the outfield. He is quickly becoming a fan favorite. Vida Blue on the Giants post game shows thinks he should be the center fielder. Lets hope that Sabean and the Giants change their mind about their plans not to offer him a contract for next year.
I'll Have Another: What a great idea! That's exactly what we did Saturday evening since I could not refuse another old fashion to celebrate the Giants breaking their four game losing streak and my wife picking the Kentucky Derby winner.
Great TV: Dave Fleming of the Giants broadcasting team was the lead announcer on the Fox Network game of the week Saturday and he along with Bill Schroeder the exceptional commentator of the Brewers did a great job. Congratulations to both! The Giants Friday night and Sunday afternoon telecasts featured a blimp and the pictures of AT&T from above, the city, the lights, MoMo's, the water front, the bridges, Alcatraz etc were fantastic.
Other Observations: Connor Gillaspie has been in the Giant organization for years and why haven't they taught him to hit to all fields. He seems to want to pull every pitch which usually means a weak grounder to second. Maybe he should take a lesson from Cabrera. The Giants defense continues to be horrible and relief pitching is not reliable like in recent years. Who will Huff replace on the current roster?
Homer Sweeney
