| Giants 1924 Uniform |
The Nationals won the home run battle 7-1 which was the key in their three game sweep over the Giants knocking them out of first place in the NL West. The Giants lost the final game in the the ninth thanks to some very sloppy fielding but the goat of the game was Sandoval who failed twice with the bases loaded to deliver a run. The Giants wore the New York Giants uniforms to commemorate the 1924 World Series against the Washington Senators. The cap worn by Belt at the right looks very much like the 1946 San Francisco Seals 'milkman' caps. (See related article May 31, 2012). On to Pittsburgh where the Giants are counting on Vogelsong to prevent another sweep. The All Star break cannot come fast enough.
